Digital Map Hell in the Mind

Kashmir Hill’s article on the dark side of  digital maps is making the rounds on the tech blogs today. It’s a good read about how bad information becomes entrenched, repeated and notoriously difficult to correct as 3rd parties buy and sell information that in turn is used to build other digital services and products. Poison concentrates as it works up the digital food chain. We use the end product and like the famous parable of the Lotus Sutra, it poisons our minds into delusion that what we are seeing is real.

Remember and practice what Charlie Sorrel wrote last week:

Take everything on the Internet, even Google Maps, with a pinch of salt.
