After the Japanese typography problems on the apple.com web pages I wrote about earlier, Apple seems to be switching back to Myriad style branding and in some cases an odd mix of old and new.
The Japanese Apple TP font, Myriad for roman characters and Axis for Japanese characters, has returned on the Japanese Back to School page text blocks, but the bold kanji title (screen grab above), appears to be SF Pro Display Hiragino Maru Gothic. Most of the other main pages on the Japanese site are a mix SF Pro Display and Apple TP.
The only certain thing is that Apple has not yet figured out what they want their San Francisco branded Japanese web typography to look like.
