It seems to becoming a regular occurrence that whenever a (yes, yet another) new QR Code Payment platform launches, they have a security meltdown. Right on cue, NHK is reporting stolen identities and mysterious charges appearing after 7-Eleven’s new 7pay launch on July 1.
The 7pay site advises users to change passwords even though the site is experiencing ‘technical difficulties’, which means everybody is changing their password right now. Good luck and have fun with that. I’ll stick with secure fast Apple Pay Suica.
