JR East announced full Mobile Suica support is coming to Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel WearOS Watches from mid-August 2026. Full Mobile Suica support has been available on Apple Watch since 2016 but only in a limited capacity on Pixel Watch and other Wear OS devices since the service launch in 2022: no commuter passes, no Suica Green seats, no day passes.
Other than a new version of Android Mobile Suica App, the only other requirement seems to be the latest version of Wear OS. All of the Mobile Suica functions are done in the Android app, not on Wear OS watch. This is the way Mobile Suica has always been on non-Apple Watch devices, the watch needs to be tethered to the smartphone to be useful. Mobile PASMO only added Wear OS support in June 2025, Mobile ICOCA is still NG.
So what has changed on the backend to bring the full set of Mobile Suica services on Wear OS? I think it comes down to an update to the FeliCa Networks Mobile FeliCa Cloud. Details are zero but my own take is that Mobile FeliCa Cloud is the Mobile FeliCa delivery system for dealing with limited embedded secure element functionality found on non-Apple wearables. In the case of Mobile Suica, I called it Mobile Suica Lite. The Mobile Suica Android app update will deliver the full set of Mobile Suica services via Mobile FeliCa Cloud. Hopefully this means more services and devices can be added to the roster in the future.
